چکیده

This paper presents a new approach for tuning three-term control loops encountered in power station processes. The proposed approach is based on the Pseudo-Derivative Feedback (PDF) control configuration. Simple methods are presented for tuning the PDF controller for dead-time processes. The methods are based on appropriate manipulations of the exponential dead-time term in the denominator of the closed-loop transfer function for a servo problem, and, subsequently, on appropriately matching the coefficients of corresponding powers of s in the numerators of the resulting transfer functions and those in their denominators. This technique gives simple algebraic systems of equations for the controller parameters. Simulation results obtained from their application on power station processes show that our methods provide improved performance as compared to known PI/PID controller tuning methods as well as sufficient robustness against parametric uncertainty. Key-Words: Power plant control, controller tuning, process control, dead-time processes.

Application to Adaptive Control to Synchronous Machine Excitation

Self-tuning adaptive control technique has the advantage of being able to track the system operating conditions so that satisfactory control action can always be produced. Self-tuning algorithms can be implemented easily. Because the power systems are usually time varying non-linear systems and their parameters vary, adaptive controllers are very suitable for power systems. Characteristics of a...

PID - Control Design for Power Station Processes Based on Time-Delay Compensation - Smith Predictor

Abstract: This paper presents a new method for a PID-control design in which the PID-control loop is represented as an equivalent one to a control loop operating with an optimized PI-controller and a Smith predictor. It requires the nearest approximation of the power plant process description and the dead-time transfer function. The presented method is based on the PID-controller transfer funct...

Tuning of Excitation and TCSC -Based Stabilizers for Multimachine Power System

In this paper, tuning of power system stabilizer (PSS) and thyristor controlled series capacitor (TCSC) is studied. The analysis of mode controllability is used to select the effective location for TCSC. The performances of TCSC equipped with a proportional-integral-derivative controller (P-I-D controller) and proportional-integral-derivative power system stabilizer (P-I-D PSS) are investigated...
